Originally conceived as a magazine cover, this painting comments on the current state of copyright law in the United States. Between the extremes of the large media corporations (who will remain nameless) pushing to extend terms of copyright well beyond the limits of the international Berne Convention, and digital-media activists fighting to abolish copyright altogether, the legitimate interests of the free-lance artist are forgotten.
