Last weekend's Holly Fair at Cambridge Center for Adult Education was originally scheduled to be Drowned Town Press's last stop on its 2011 Holiday Craft Fair Tour.

But a surprise opportunity arose in the form of the second annual GeekFaire on the lower level of Pandemonium Books this Saturday, 17 December, from 1pm to 6pm. Drowned Town Press will be present with comics, greeting carts, postcards, animation DVDs, and original art.

Pandemonium Books is at 4 Pleasant Street, just off of Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square, Cambridge, one block from the Central Square MBTA Station.

Drowned Town Press returns to the Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo (MICE) this Saturday, 24 September, 10am—6pm. This year the show is at Lesley University's University Hall at Porter Exchange, 1815 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA. We'll be on the second floor. Admission is free.

In addition to the vendor tables of numerous self-published comic artists, including show organizers the Boston Comics Roundtable, there is an exhibition of cartoon and comic art by local talent, Comic Art New England, in the same spot.

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I had no idea whether I was going to make it to the Small Press Expo in Bethesda this year. Well, it's going to happen!! I'll be in the Boston Comics Roundtable block, so I'll be at Table B5 or B6.

SPX will be in the same location as last year, the Bethesda North Marriott near White Flint Metro Station (Red Line). Please note that at last report, attendees will be routed into the convention hall through a different entrance than last year, as the main foyer leading to that hall has been cordoned off due to earthquake-related damage. Scary, huh? I'll be there, so you know I've got confidence in the place.

The final stop on the Drowned Town Press Spring Tour is Boston Comic Con, which is this weekend, 30 April - 1 May, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston's Back Bay, on Boylston Street, a few blocks from the Hynes stop on the Green Line.

The Drowned Town Press table is in Artists' Alley, at Table AA 213. Show hours are 10am - 7pm Saturday and 10am - 5pm Sunday.

Don't forget to check out the Boston Comics Roundtable table, too! E. J. has art in two of their recent anthologies, Inbound #5 and Hellbound.

The third leg of the Spring 2011 Drowned Town Press tour is MoCCA ArtFest, now in its third year at the 69th Regiment Armory (yes, THAT Armory) 68 Lexington Avenue in New York City, on Saturday and Sunday, 9--10 April.

In keeping with the venue's scandalous reputation as the place where America was introduced to Cubism nearly 100 years ago, the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, now in its 10th Anniversary year, hosts this annual festival of small-press and independent comics. The show is open to the public 11am to 6pm both days.

Drowned Town Press will be there with old and new material, including E. J. Barnes's new, all-scratchboard comic of Jonathan Swift's "A Beautiful Young Nymph Going To Bed."

The second stop of the Drowned Town Press spring tour is coming up this weekend, when E. J. Barnes is in Columbus, Ohio, for the Small Press and Alternative Comic Expo (SPACE).

The show is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, 19--20 March, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Conference Center at 4900 Sinclair Road, just off of I-71. Saturday hours are 10am--6pm, Sunday 10am--5pm.

E. J. will be at Table 56 not only with the new "A Beautiful Young Nymph Going To Bed," but a variety of gag-cartoon and other greeting cards you didn't see last year.

For the first time, Drowned Town Press will be appearing at STAPLE!, the small-press/independent comic show in Austin, Texas.

The show is this Saturday and Sunday, 5--6 March, at the Marchesa Hall and Theater in the Lincoln Village Shopping Center, near the intersection of Route 2222 and I-35. STAPLE! is open to the public 11am--6pm Saturday and Noon--6pm Sunday.

A full array of Drowned Town Press comics and other goodies, old and new, will be available, including DVDs, greeting cards, poetry, and of course the now-complete Tales of the Ling Master cycle.

Drowned Town Press at MICE this Saturday

Ling Master artist E. J. Barnes and over 50 other small-press and independent comic-book creators will be exhibiting at the first annual Massachusetts Independent Comic Expo (MICE) this Saturday, 25 September, at the Art Institute of Boston's 700 Beacon Street location in Kenmore Square. MICE is open to the public from 10am to 6pm. Admission is FREE.

In addition to vendor tables, there will be a program of panels, including topics such as Webcomics, Independent Comics Publishers, workshops, and more.

This event, organized by the Boston Comics Roundtable, will premiÃ¨re the BCR's latest anthology, "Inbound 5: Comics About Food." E. J. Barnes collaborated with writer Patrick Flaherty on one of the stories in "Inbound 5."

E. J. Barnes's Comics - Drowned Town Press returns to Small Press Expo

Drowned Town Press and artist/writer E. J. Barnes return this coming weekend to the Small Press Expo (SPX) in Bethesda, Maryland, just north of Washington, DC. The show is open to the public for two days, Saturday and Sunday, 11 and 12 September, at the Marriott Bethesda North Hotel and Conference Center.

Expo hours are 11am--7pm Saturday and Noon--6pm Sunday. Admission is $10 for one day and $15 for the whole weekend.

SPX is a major small-press and independent-comic show held annually. It is large of its kind, but not the sort of three-ring circus you may imagine if all you know of comic book conventions is the TV footage of Comic-Con San Diego. No blockbuster movie previews. No huge booths from DC, Marvel, and Image. No tables packed with long boxes of "bronze-age" back issues. Just independent comics and zines -- the big publishers here are outfits like Fantagraphics and Top Shelf, the big-name cartoonists are folks such as Jaime Hernandez, Keith Knight, and Raina Telgemeier, and the majority of exhibitors are self-publishers and small collectives.

This year, the program includes the first annual Small Press Expo Animation Showcase!

The Marriott Bethesda North Hotel and Conference Center is at 5701 Marinelli Road, one block west of the White Flint Metro stop.

E. J. Barnes's Comics - Third Ling collection to première at MoCCA ArtFest

Those of you who will be in New York City this weekend may be planning to attend MoCCA ArtFest, the annual celebration of independent and small-press comics. Moving up from summer to spring, this year's ArtFest is Saturday and Sunday, 10--11 April, 11am--6pm both days. The 2010 MoCCA ArtFest returns to the historic 69th Regiment Armory at 68 Lexington Avenue in Manhattan, between 25th and 26th Streets.

Drowned Town Press will be at MoCCA ArtFest with the third and final Ling Master Collection, Blaster Al Ackerman's Tales of the Ling Master #3. This collection includes not only updated art from Ling Master Preview #3, "The Squid Boys of Terre Haute," but two completely new Ling stories: "Ask Ling: Two Parables" and perhaps the most shocking Ling story ever, "The Blue Catfish." (Ling Master creator Blaster Al Ackerman, upon seeing the pencils for "The Blue Catfish", described the art for those pages as having "an eerie beauty and interest all its own.")
